Default K&N filter question.

I have a 1993 CBR1000F which has a Two Brother 4-2-1 exhaust and Stage 1 jets. It has a stock air filter and currently runs rich and pops on decel a little bit .

Since the bike is runnign rich would it be safe to put in a K&N without jetting again? The stage 1 jets should be good for exhaust AND intake right?

Yes the stage 1 is good for the exhaust and the K&n filter. That is what I have done to mine.

I have TB slip on and K&N filter. I have stock jet settings and have no problems.

Hmmm. I installed the K&N filter after and the bike ran like garbage.....

I think the carbs are used to the stock filter.

tI might not need re-jetting but I probably need the mixture adjusted to compensate for the huge increase in airflow.

I have no experience doing this on a bike and it would probably be smart to verify A/F ratios with a wide-band right?

Does it run like garbage throughout the rev range? You might just need to adjust the needle heights. When I fitted my 4 into 1 and jet kit, also with K&N, I had to dick around heaps to get it to run right. Mixture and a balance would also be on the cards.

I got a K&N in mine and she runs very nicely. Never touched the jetting either. The induction noise on it as it sucks the air in is sweet. Even better on the BB.

Yes it runs like crap throughout. I have to find a good honda mechanic.

The dealers around here in CT stink.(well at least mickyfinns, libby's and oceancity.)

What happens if you pull the air filter out and run it? Are the enrichners all the way down when you are running?
