Was it an OEM CCT? I'm sure you can fix it...if not, send it back and order A.P.E

I couldnt wait so if anyone else does this and finds this thread; conclusion; I went to the honda dealer and stole a minute of a mechanics time to find out how i can fix the early release of the pin for the f4i cct. with a sm screwdriver you can turn the screw on top clockwise to retract the shaft but you must hold it with your thumb because there will be pressure, then put the pin back in untill its snugly bolted into position. then release the pin.</p>

except that you should constantly be checking that it's properly adjusted, whereas the OEM can just be installed and forgotten for 25k+ miles...

+1, I've got an ape on the bench. If I were racing track it would be on the bike. My dirtbikes have manual tensioners as I'm constantly monitoring and adjusting them. A streetbike should be as maintenance free as possible. There is no need to add something else to the mix.

It may last a while with the oem, but it's guaranteed to rattle much much sooner.... Hence APE ftw

wow, The rattle isnt a failing tensioner but a poorly designed end tip. It doesnt fail, it makes noise. Big deal. The ape requires constant attention and has failed many more times due to improper installation or lack of maintenance.
