BMC Filter Question
I was reading the post on 147 WTF?
Many of you seem to be running the BMC Race filters.
Now I can understand wanting the extra air flow.....but I just read on the Motorcycle superstore web site that the race filter flows 25% more air by having less layers of cotton (Hence less filtering ability).
Aren't you worried you will destroy your engines by using a filter that that lets more dirt throughthan the standard BMC filter (for the street)?

RE: BMC Filter Question
Not if you don't live ina dessert like area. When you change the oil, just take out the filters, inspect them, clean them and put them back. If I was noticing alot of dirt in the filters when I inspect them, I would be worried, than change them to the standard BMC filters. That is not the case with mine though.

RE: BMC Filter Question
I ran my bike without ANY air filters (without me knowing) for about 1500 miles, I only discovered that because i was about to change what i thought were stock filter elements for my new bmc standard ones. That was 1000 miles ago and so far so good, nothing has happened to my bike. I wish I would've bought the race ones though, those are the ones i'll get next time.
