Default insurance question

This is also related to my post on that low-side from previous. Has anyone made a claim on a bike who could tell me what kind of insurance premium increase they saw? I'm currently through state farm and am weighing my possibilities of doing the work myself vs. submitting it to my insurance. If anyone has any experience and knows what kind of increase they saw I could use that help as well. Thanks for everything.

I would have to say first how much damage do you have? And second how many other accident claims and tickets do you have? If you have no other claims and the damage is extensive file the claim, but if you do, it takes 3 years for a claim to come off your insurance record. The premiums will go up, but it depends on your history. I would fix it myself than put a ding on my insurance. In the long run, with the increase of the premium, that alone could pay for the damages to your bike unless it is completely totalled. Do you have any pics of the bike?

I have no previous tickets or accident claims on either my car or my bike. I don't have any pictures yet but I can pretty much explain everything that's damaged. I scraped up pretty bad my lower right fairing, no tank or upper fairing scratches. scuffed my yoshi exhaust some, ground off a small part of my foot brake, bent my hand brake, scuffed my mirror and right signal, and scuffed my bar end. That's the very extent of the damage. my insurance has a 500 dollar deductible and that's that. If I can get some good prices on the fairing and hand brake, I could just sand down my exhaust to look better and not worry too much about the signal and mirror. If this helps with any more advice, I'd surely appreciate it.
Thanks again.

Now your bike looks like half of the bikes on the road. If this is your first bike, I wouldn't even fix the cosmetic damage.

Ok with the bike insurance it doesnt matter if you havent had a claim, accident or ticket before ur bike insurance will jump just because its a bike. Also insurance companies do biannually an annual rate reviews for states and zip codes so your claim will count against you and other people in the state when your rates go up during your renewal time.

I pay 95 dollars a month for liability and comprehensive. If i wanted collision it would be 215-225 a month. Im with Geico. Also dependion on what insurance company you go with they can go 5 years back instead of 3.

The damage you described sounds cheap if you can get a good deal of ebay. My bike was stollen last year and i lukily got it back a few months later. The jokers punched the igntion, took the right and left cowls, ditch the seat, the tag, broke the right mirrorand put some scratches on the bike. I got all the parts i could replace off of ebay and bikebanditts.com. I got my fairings/cowls for300 dollars off ebay and they were basically brand new except for a superficial scratch that i buffed off. I bought some intergrated mirrors for 40 bones and got the seat and battery from bike bandit for around 200.00. I got lucky and spent only 550 for parts for the in need items that needed to be replaced. Your situation sounds like it would be cheaper to get the parts of ebay. So i wouldnt claim it.
