You're missing the point of why some of us choose to not ride in sub freezing weather. It's not about keeping warm or personal comfort anything. Heck, I ride my bicycle to work sometimes when it is so cold that the shifters won't shift to another gear.

With me, anyway, it's about safety. As I said in a previous post the rear end on my CBR started to slide out on a recent ride when it was 29*F because of cold tires. I had already been on the road for 25 minutes and I thought they were warmed up enough to where I could relax a little instead of acting like I was riding on a frozen lake. The brief loss of control was enough to convince me to hook it up to the Battery Tender for the rest of the winter.

I rode to work the other day in 18*, it was so cold the condensation from me breathing froze. I would not do that again. but anything above 32* is okay with me I just take it slow till i get on the freeway and avoid changing lanes or hard turns till about 15 miles so i know my tires are warmed a little but only to commute and to be on two wheels. i wait for 60 70 degree weather to get into the twisties and really tear it up.

Sell your bike! Seriously!

There is no fun in spending $10,000 on something that your gonna use for only 3 months but thats just me.

^^Squid.

Your gear won't stop your bike from sliding in the cold. The roid rage about not being man enough was completely uncalled for. Some of us spend the $10,000 to ride in the spring/summer, not to ruin it in the cold of winter. Don't be insulting to people that have common sense. Not all of us buy a bike as an image thing

May want to tone it down a teensy bit

My tires are the originals from 06 and the original owner barely rode her in 4 years so she sat most of those 4 years. My rear broke loose at 10 mph on an easy turn (out of a parking lot) after my bike sat for about 45 min on a 44 degree temp morning (average temp for the day was the mid 50s). This was after noticing an increase in rear traction loss and rear locks as the temp began falling during the fall.

Temperature affects safety. Right now it'd be insane for me to ride. Old tires + cold temps = danger. Add in the salt, extremely poor road conditions (potholes and craters being born by the hour) and increased stupidity of other drivers.

No, not going to happen.

Hell yeah, Kuro. I rode my new bike off of the truck, and into my garage the other day after I bought it, and I did about a ten foot long burn out at about 15mph just trying to get up the driveway. No snow, just cold as all hell and the rear tire broke loose. It's not safe at all. So, in reality, too cold is when the roads get too cold (low forties, into the thirties).

I haven't had any problems with tires spinning all winter except for on ice... I had new Shinko's on my GSXR and have new Conti's on my CBR

Our temps fluctuate A LOT though... go from high 20's some nights to low 60's on some days... so our roads may stay a bit warmer?

I'd be willing to bed that's probably why. You're in a relatively nice area, and with a lot of fluctuation in temperature, the roads don't get THAT cold. Here in Cleveland, that happens in the spring and I never have a problem riding in the cooler weather, but after a week or two of constant cold, the roads are hard to drive on with a powerful car- let alone a bike.
