I think mine is set to 7. I was riding 2up a lot and kept making it stiffer. Never changed it back.

Do a search for "setting the sag", on this forum. It's the process of setting the preload correctly for your weight rather by trial and error. There are also various how-to videos on youtube.

if you're looking directly at the dial there will be three numbers showing. maybe 2,3, and 4. or if it's been adjusted, 4,5, and 6 for example. and they'll be in a vertical line. the number in the middle is the number it's set to.

my vote is adjust it fully to one side (soft or hard) and add or subtract from there. remember to have somebody or a few people hold the *** off the ground, and secure the front wheel!!
Alright. I went and tried moving the shock tonight and I'm not sure I accomplished anything. I can't find what setting it's on first of all. I see the numbers on both sides and there appears to be a tab in both 4's on each side. I tried using the tool moving either direction with WD-40 and I think I damned near broke the shock trying or pulled a muscle and I don't think it moved. lol Do you actually put the tool in the slots with the numbers? There sure isn't much room to pull or push if that's where you put it. At least that is where I was trying.

Does anyone have any pictures of how to do this? If I can't figure it out I'm just gonna take it to the damn dealer and tell them to do it.

the tool has an extension on it, to you can move it one click at a time. and like i said, you have to lift the back of the bike up, otherwise nothing is going to happen. there can't be any weight on the back of the bike.

I don't have the extension then, I only have the C wrench. The rear was on a stand but I couldn't get it to move.

if the rear is on the stand, you're still putting weight on the spring. the stand is holding the wheel, which is pushing it up into the spring. it's the same as having it on the ground boss. you need to have someone LIFT the tail of the bike up, and take some weight off the rear wheel. if anything is bracing the swingarm, or wheel, there is still weight on it, which means you won't be able to turn it.
