AFAIK, most HID ballast come nearly waterproof from factory these days and they are pretty compact in size, not difficult to find place to mount them.

If it's possible install it all with the front cowling ON !!! Someone else did this online and I regret not doing more research and using this method. I've never been able to get my front cowl on perfectly after installing mine with the cowl off and I have NO IDEA what is catching. The cowl goes on but I have to force it about half an inch and put the bolts in while muscling it into position. If you install everything with the cowl on you're guaranteed that you won't block anything. I asked a friend who owns several bikes and customizes them and he said he always leaves the cowls on during the installs. Probably harder to do it but the result will be better.

Here's the install guide by the genius who left his cowl on.

The stock "bulb-holder-clips-things" won't hold the bulbs perfectly still even if you bend them "which I did" so I used hot glue to make lock them into position. I don't know if anyone else did this but it worked well for me. Hopefully it will be okay in the summer.

I have an 02 F4i and took out my windscreen and mounted the ballast underneath my instrument cluster, tucked up out of the way, no mess, all the wires run behind the air duct covers and once the windscreen is back in... you cant see a thing.

You have the same bike, the same year and the same color as me. We know what's good

Smart man, I Wish I had talked to you before I installed mine. I have wires hanging everywhere I worry that some ******* might tamper with them someday.
