How often are you using the battery tender and how long are your rides? You may be avoiding a problem. My old F2 had a bad rectifier and I'd have to recharge the battery every couple days. After I replaced my rectifier, no more problem, never needed a tender.

I run a battery tender 24/7 on all my bikes. Extends the life of the battery substantially.

I use it all of the time...but i have also check my electrical system to insure that everything is charging properly. I was just trying to tell him that when the bike is sitting for an extended period of time, the tender keeps the battery up for you.

^ the last two. Yea I know the pros of a tender. What I meant was more geared towards madtaz in the sense that if he were to go a week without the tender, would the battery still die?

"I will start it and let it idle for a while and the battery would die in a couple days"

if this happened over and over, obviously a tender would just avoid the real problem. I fully charged my battery once right after I bought it and it still running to this day, without a tender.

OP: do you have a multimeter available to you? if so run it across the battery with the bike running and tell us what it reads. should be like 13.5+. start with that then we can go into testing the reg/rect or stator. you said its blowing the main fuse as well? id lean towards the reg/rect.

Ok so being a mechanic in The U.S. Army has taught me a real bad habit...automatically think of the worst fault possible. I overlooked a simple problem. After going through everything again me and my buddy decided to push start the bike.. it started like a champ.... this lead me to believe the shop sold me a faulty battery....THEY DID!!!! so i went and had the battery charged for a while then put it back in the bike Bingo!!!!! no more problems.. Thanks to all of you who helped me through my little issue I apreciate it greatly.
