Default Buzzing noise (already have APE CCTL installed)

Hello all,

So, I have a new buzzing noise. I just noticed it the other day. The buzzing noise happens at exactly between 5500 and 6000rpm and only when in gear and riding. If I rev the bike in neutral (stationary or riding) or if I have the bike on my stands and revving, I don't hear the buzzing noise.

As mentioned, I already have a manual APE CCTL installed and its been installed for over a year and I haven't had a problem since.

Last week, I had a close call and had to slam on my brakes to avoid running a quick changing red light (and into oncoming traffic). I slightly locked up both my back and front tires and during the braking, I created a slight clicking noise from the front. I don't remember if I heard the buzzing immediately afterwards, but I noticed it the next day.

I've checked and my bolts are still tight and I can't find anything loose.

Any ideas what could be the problem.

If anyone suspects the CCTL as the problem, any ideas as to what would cause it to loose its tension from how it was set over a year ago?

Thanks for any responses.

(P.S. I've searched the forum and couldn't find anything conclusive)

If it's strictly between 5500 and 6000 rpm and not progressively changing with each different gear this may not be the case, but I would still recommend checking your chain cleanliness, lubrication, and front and rear sprockets. Otherwise it must be something else south of the transmission if it only happens when gears are engaged and not in neutral.

I had this same issue, it was my v fairing in the front that was rubbing against my air intake holes. It's still doing it, I just put some duct tape around the mounts and what not to make it not vibrate. It helped for a little and then came back. Mine was at the exact same RPM too, 3k and 5k to 5.5k

Thanks.

I'll check your suggestions.

Hmmm, now I am thinking. I did just install new spark plugs that same day (well, the day before).

Thanks for chiming in. I had lifted the tank and removed the airbox. In going that route, I had to remove both air ducts and that probably did loosen the V fairing a little from the air intake holes. I had checked to see if everything was tight, but I will check again.

Thanks again.

If you remove the inner black fairings above air intakes you see a wire stay on both sides that locate in lugs , mine where loose so cable tied in place and buzzing stopped.

This is a good example of just why we use these forums. Good detail and good helpful answers. Just another part of the bike culture I enjoy.

It seems like a simple answer, but do you have a keyring on your ignition key?

Yes, I do have a key ring, but I already thought of that. I rode around with just the key only in the ignition and still had the buzzing noise.

Unfortunately, due to work and because I decided to take a class this semester, the bike is up for the season. I will take a look early next year when the weather breaks and will provide an update.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
