Buying a used F4i 2001
I just checked out a f4i in person.
EDIT: http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/mcy/874610822.html
he is willing to drop price down to $3500 is that a good deal for a 01 F4i with 20k miles? Looks like its been lowsided (left fairing gotta be replaced, and the tail has some rash on the left side, and theres a small crack on the headlight fairing) I looked online for some replacement fairings and it should cost around 50-100 for a used fairing on ebay. Other than the cosmetics the frame looks straight and motor idles fine, also dont hear any rattling from the CCT when you rev up but I think I will test ride it before I am sure. He has all the maintenance records and his reason for selling is he doesnt ride anymore. So let me know what you guys think of this deal and if I should ask him to go lower. I know some guys who got a F4i for way cheaper and with lower miles.

Hmmmm...tough call to make without seeing any photos of the bike. A Honda will run for 100,000 miles if you do your proper maintenance. I am at 16K and it runs like a champ. If there isn't alot of body damage, thats a fair price. Honda's keep their value. I paid 3500 for mine with only 3800 miles on it. Right place at the right time. I would get it if it isn't too badly torn up, but thats all cosmetic and can be fixed.

Be patient, the price sounds a little high to me, especially without seeing pics. I bought an 01 with 7000 miles, with a few aftermarket parts like a micron high mount, windscreen, undertail, and a few other things. Mine only has a small scratch on the right side fairing from the guy putting it in a moving truck when he relocated. I paid $4000 for mine but its in near mint condition, plus I got it with two helmets, and anew leather jacket and gloves. If the bike runs fine I would try to beat him up on the price alittle.

I agree with the rest about being patient. I sold mine, an 01 F4i with 18000 miles, perfect condition, PCIII, Two Bros Exhaust, Pshykon windscreen, ASV levers, undertail kit, Corbin seat, motorcycle cover, repair manual, Joe Rocket Manta tank bag, K&N filter, new 520 conversion...i think it was maybe a week old, with Black Vortex rear sporcket, RK chain.... I think thats it...all for 3900. So there are deals out there, just be patient and keep looking around. Check Craigslist, they always seem to have deals there. If you live in a military town, you can find deals from service members either deploying or getting stationed overseas.

Hmm.. well he had some pics up but looks like he deleted the one with the damage. Anyway I went and looked at it and the only cosmetic damage is on the left fairing which is scratched up a little and parts around the edge are chipped off. The only way to describe it is, it looks like the clips that held the fairing into place got chipped off along the top of the fairing so I could stick my fingers in and it seemed like I could yank the fairing off which cant be good. Also the headlight fairing has a small crack and the rear tail section has a scratch on the left side. It has a two brothers exhaust, double bubble windscreen, and a gorilla alarm without a remote.
Heres a pic I highlighted where the damage is that I'm describing.
Plus:
- tires got plenty of meat on them
-frame looks straight
-idles fine
-no electrical problems
-clear title
-papers to show the work put into it
-no CCT rattle
cons:
-left fairing needs to be replaced
-scratch on the left rear tail section
-crack by the headlight fairing
-could use a wash and some tlc
-miles are high considering the price
