I have an 01 F4i today I go out to start my bike to go to class I let it warm up and when I hop on it just died. So I turned the key off and back on but the fuel pump didn't come on. Also the button for the starter seemed to do nothing when I tried to restart the bike. I checked the fuse under the seat and it was good so any ideas? Switch going bad maybe?

Did you try roll starting it? I have no ideas for wires, maybe when you got on you hit a loose wire, vac line, something. How does everything look under the bike? Try roll/push starting it.

 

Did you accidently bump the kill switch. flip it a couple of times and then try again.

 

yea i tried flipping the switch repeatedly and i didnt figure there was a point to roll starting it if the fuel pump wont even kick on.Under the bike is fine not a drip.

 

You have power though? Have you checked all the fuses under the seat. I cant remember which one but one of them will blow and you will have power on the guages but the fuel pump wont come on and the starter wont engage. My cousins had a bare wire after removing a crappy alarm system and it kept blowing that fuse when he would ride. There is also a diode in the ignition switch that can go bad and the fuel pump wont come on. Its a hotwire safety thing, but I dont hear about that happening much anymore.

 

do your lights come on? fi, both blinkers, high beam?

 

it sounds crazy but is the clock on your cluster on?

 

any weird lights comming on?
