Default Searched everywhere! Help!!!

Hello, im new to the site and i just picked up a 92 cbr f2. it runs pretty good and is in overall good shape but im having a few problems. First is it smokes alot from underneath the gas tank, people have said it may be a stuck float and smoking from carbs. Second the bike is a little underpowered and sounds like a four stroke dirtbike while running. I ride with the boy i bought it from and he had it sitting for a while and said it didnt sound like that last year, and was a little faster. It has 25k miles, and a yoshi slip on. If anybody knows if/how all these problems are connected PLEASE help me. I ride it alot and its ok, but i would like it to run at its best and not smoke at lights. Thank you in advance for your help, and i love the site btw.

If its smoking, something is leaking and burning off. Figure out what it is. Probably oil.

If you haven't gotten even that far, you might be better off taking it to a shop...

Pull the tank, hook up a lawn mower fuel tank, might have to plug the vaccuum tube that runs to the petcock. Start it up and start looking. My 94 F2 sounded like it wasnt running on all cylinders after it sat for a couple years. Good ole carb cleaning did the trick. Also flushed the fuel tank. Also replaced some kind of little orange filter thats connected to the bottom half of the air box, about the size of 2 or 3 postage stamps. Fresh plugs wouldnt hurt either.

you have signs of carb issues - the smoke you're seeing is likely atomized fuel that is being shot out the throat of a gummed up carb, into the airbox and out the breather tube/filter.

tha and the 4-stroke thing - when I run out of fuel, that's the dead giveaway that I need to flip to reserve and go get gas.

the smoke smells like fuel..i have off work thursday and im goin to do a thorough cleaning of the carbs and replace plugs, filters and an oil change. as for the sound i meant it sounds like a v twin rather than the typical ricey sound, thats where i heard it wasnt firing on all cylinders. thanks for all the help guys, ill keep you posted.
