OK, So Ibought my Power Commander last night on ebay! At this point, from reading this, I'm not to sure why! However,I'm one of those guys, who I guess, have to do it themselves,, you know,, So since no one can tell me the difference between Low, Med, and High,, I'll be sure to let ya'llknow.. Only thing is How?? I was thinking ofletting the bike heat up to around 178 or so,,, driving it around using all 3 seetings,, when doing this, I'll be sure to look at the tempon the bike and let ya'll know,, But,,, how would you recomend I test the power,, I mean, should I set the tack around 6 or 7k and then nail her, or should I start from the start? I guess I could do both,,,, Give me suggestion please!!! on how to test it,,,,, TY
What is this "Low, Med, High" of which you speak? There is not switch on a PCIII USB IIRC that simply sets the power boost for lower, middle or higher settings. It uses Maps to vary the fuel ratio at 250 RPM incriments. These varying maps could add fuel down low or up high, or take it away (when compared to a stock settings), or any combination in between. Plus the Map you use will greatly depend on the mods on the bike. Custom maps would be a fine tuned Map just for your exact setup and done on a dyno on your bike.

Pay for the Power Commander, pay for dyno time an then you can pay for more gas at the pump. All this for 'smoother power delivery' or 3 HP??? Maybe I work too hard for my money (actually not anymore, but at one point in my life I did work hard), but a few (maybe $500 with tuning?)hundred for the opportunity to lose 10 to 20% in gas mileage don't make no sense to me especially when the whole bike isn't worth$8,000.

When a 600 seems slow, then it is time for a 1000. When that seems slow then zx-14 or Busa time. After that you are on your own, I guess the whole PCIII makes sense to thousands of other people to go this route, but not me.

edit:
I get 48 mpg on my stock F4i, I ride alot of two-up also.

If I ride the speed limit solo I'm lucky to get 48, got 51 once. My typical mileage out of the stock F4i, 06 model is around 44.

I just got back from my bun burner 1500 (actually 1583 miles), which I had my new pipe on the bike. Haven't figured up the mileage though.

As for mileagewith the PC, that depends on the map. From what I gather though, most maps that correct the way the bike runs is actually taking fuel OUT of the equation, which I would think wouldn't hurt the mileage.

I know PC recommends there O2 eliminator, but that does hurt the fuel since it doesn't lean the mixture out for idle or cruising.

i just put an FMF shorty on my 06' and the bike idles like stock andi cant feel any flat spots or loss of power. if anything, the bike now runs better. 300for a few ponies is too rich for my blood. for just a slip-on i wouldn't get it. just my 2 cents

I just put the Jardine RT-1 on my 06 and think the bike is a bit smoother in the throttle, no dead spots at all, sounds great to me. The bike feels like it is free'er than it was, like it accelerates a bit easier. I want a PCIII, just not sure if I'll get one.

mines a lot louder now but runs smoother than stock for sure. i'm not shellin out 300 bucks for nuthin. not adjusting and keepingyour chain lubedwill take away more hp than a slp-on and PC will gain you.
