I heard, here I think, that you arent charging below 5k. I dont know how true this is but worth a mention.
I've heard 4K - anyone have an actual answer on this?

If it didn't charge below 4000 rpms wouldn't your battery die at idle when it gets weak? Yes. Yes it would :P

Well your battery would die, and then when you tried to restart it, it wouldn't start, assuming you stayed under 4K or 5k or whatever the magic number is.

It wouldn't die on you right away I don't think. Holy hell I just realized I know jack**** about bike mechanics. Do these things have alternators ?

Ugh. After that question i'm gonna hide now.

P.S. In my defense I'm quite handy with cars and have built a supercharged 89 5.0 (well was a 306 but whos counting displacement) mustang and a full bolt on LS1 transam.

Haha. No it wouldn't die right away. But if you've got a really weak battery (like jump it to start it and then let it idle) it would die pretty quick because there wouldn't be enough juice to the computer. That is if it doesn't charge in the lower RPMs. It does charge more when the revs are up but its charging as long as its running.
