You also need the rear bolts that hold on the gas tank, and the U-shaped piece of metal that goes with them (part of what holds the front seat down).

My tutorial shows the parts needed...

'01-03 split seat subframe
'01-03 tail cowl
'01-03 rear pegs (not necessary if you don't ride passengers & you use an exhaust hanger)
'01-03 battery tray
'01-03 tail light
'01-03 front & rear seats
(Misc hardware, such as; front seat bracket flat-top bolts, front seat screws, frankenstein bolts, etc)
You will reuse your trunk lock, screws that hold battery tray to subframe at inside-rear corners, etc,

Follow my tutorial & feel free to contact me for help on the conversion.

OOOPS when I posed this earlier....

"Ok now I am extremely worried. I came across this split seat tutorial and am seeing a lot of parts on there I don't have. My list of things are:
Subframe"

I forgot to give you the link:
http://www.cbrfan.com/sale-wtb/1167-...plit-seat.html

Look there and see all the parts he has listed. Yunebug you and GotCbr seem to have differences in your tutorial when it comes to these parts. I don't know what to do/order at this point. Help

No worries...we're here to help. Yunebug & I are both trying to get you to the same destination.

I went thru some of my pics for you...

This is the stock '01-03 battery tray. In this first pic, notice the lock, lock retainer, cable, & bracket....

In the second pic, notice how the '01-03 subframe mounts to the '01-03 battery tray by a screw on ea side w/ special washer. Also, notice how the lock cable connects to the subframe & seat locking mechanism. Lastly, notice how the '01-03 tail light bolts up to the battery tray...ea side has a grommet/washer/bolt/nut setup.

Hope that clears up what's needed on the inside at that portion of the tail.

Okay.

01-03 CBR600F4i Subframe (50200-MBW-A10ZA)
This is the subframe. Without the subframe, tail swap is not possible.

01-03 CBR600F4i Undertray (80105-MBW-A10)
Undertray is the plastic tray that installs onto the subframe.

01-03 CBR600F4i Front Seat (77100-MBW-A10)
This is a no brainer. You cannot use the banana seat on a split seat conversion.

01-03 CBR600F4i Battery Cover (80110-MBW-A10)
Battery cover is not necessary.

01-03 CBR600F4i Tail light (33710-MBW-A11)
You need this as the tail lights were different between the 01-03 and 04-06.

01-03 CBR600F4i Seat Bolt (2) (96300-06020-00)
These bolts secure the front seat to the subframe. Front seat is held by the clip in the front, and these two bolts in the back.

clip for fairing to undertray (4) (90683-MBW-003)
These are little black plastic clips to secure the fairing from below

Frankenstien bolts (2) (90116-MBG-000)
These are two bolts that hold the fairing from above. Goes on each side of the faring, near the front of the rear seat.

Tank bolts (2) (90102-MBW-A10)
These are the flat-head bolts we've been talking about

Rubber Groment for Taillight (2) (19038-ME9-000)
These are rubber grommets that the tail light bolts go through. These SHOULD come with the undertray.

seat bolt collar(1) (90522-170-700)
You already have this on your 06 F4i. Reuse.

Washer for frankenstien bolts (2) (94102-08700)
You can use any washer for this as long as they're the right size. These are available at Home Depot.

Lock gaurd for 01-03 trunk (1) (77157-MCF-000)
This is the #7 part in the diagram from ronayers.com I posted.

Passenger Pegs (50750-MBW-A10ZA, 50760-MBW-A10)
Passenger pegs are different. 01-03 pegs have a wider distance between the two bolts. If they did not come with the subframe, you need them (unless you want to run without passenger pegs).

Rear Cowel (77210-MBW-A10ZA)
This the fairing.

Hope that helps. The conversion that gotcbr and I did is essentially the same. His F4 and my (and your) F4i are very similar.

While frankenstein bolts are nice for attaching cargo nets & straps, they are not strictly required to do the conversion. You can substitute an M6 bolt. In fact, the same bolt that you use to attach the front of the tail cowl - can also be used in place of the frankenstein bolts. Since frankenstein bolts can be somewhat pricey, I thought you might want to know that you can substitute this. ;-)

^^^ I was asked for a pic of the bolt substitution, so here it is...

While I personally use the frankenstein bolts b/c I carry gear at times & like the hook/mounting point of the extended bolts, as the pic illustrates, you can use the short M6 bolts for a cleaner look. Plus, if you ride passengers, they'll thank you for not having the frankensteins digging into their legs. ;-)

Part 4 doesn't exist in the 04-06 tail so he will need to purchase that (if it doesn't come with subframe that is). But see how part 1 is a different bracket holding the lock mechanism and 7 is a different bracket holding the release cable?

to get 'em. haha :0)
What about part 3 on the 01-03 which is part 2 on the 04-06. I think you overlooked it because the part # appear to be the same.

01-03: Ref # 2 Part#: 77156-MBW-D20 CABLE, SEAT LOCK
04-06: Ref # 3 Part#: 77156-MCF-000 CABLE, SEAT LOCK

So am I buying a new part for this too?
