You'll want to order from there. These are specialized bolts you will not find at any local hardware store.

Ok I will purchase the bolts BUT do I need to buy the metal bracket/clip the bolts go in for the seat too? Also, remember I have an 06 f4i - you were converting a 2000 F4 so are you sure my bolts and bracket wont work? thanks for the help guys.

No. The seat collar is the same.

gotcbr did the F4 to F4i conversion. Mine was F4i to F4i - just like you.

You asked about the *bolts*...that's what I referred you to look at & compare.

In fact, your original bolts will work but won't support the front of the individual seat properly. Thus, the need for the flat-top bolts as designed.

To clarify for anyone else that sees the tutorial pic w/ both the F4 & F4i seat brackets... Either will work but there is a small difference.

Also, even though my tutorial is an F4 to F4i split-seat conversion, all of the principles are still the same...you're going from the same banana seat tail to an '01-03 split-seat tail.

OK great guys thank a lot I ordered the correct bolts. I have gone through and read both your tutorials and they are great. I had a few questions though. Can I use the same trunk locking mechanism from the 06? If so, is it in the same location so all I have to do is unscrew from 06 and put it on the 03 exactly like it was?

Thanks for the compliment on my tutorial. I did spend quite a bit of time on it & did so in the hope that it would genuinely help others.

Yes, you reuse your same trunk lock mechanism, cable & keylock.

Ok now I am extremely worried. I came across this split seat tutorial and am seeing a lot of parts on there I don't have. My list of things are:
Subframe
- Rear Cowl
- Rear footpegs
- Undertail kit w/lights
- Undertray
- Front Seat
- Rear Seat
-front seat bolts

that guy has a lot more... any ideas?

Actually, gotcbr, the lock mechanism is the only same thing. The brackets that hold the lock are different - which he will need.

Look here:
http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID...oup/SEAT_04-05

Parts 5, 12, 2, and 6 are reused but 7 and 1 are specific to 04-06 tail. 7 holds the release cable and 1 holds the lock.

This is the 01-03 tail:
http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID...oup/SEAT_01-03

Part 4 doesn't exist in the 04-06 tail so he will need to purchase that (if it doesn't come with subframe that is). But see how part 1 is a different bracket holding the lock mechanism and 7 is a different bracket holding the release cable?

They are different parts but same reference numbers.

Budweis0r - PM me. I'll give you all the details and part numbers and where to get 'em. haha :0)
