Default 03 f4i headlight problem

i have had this headlight problem twice recently. i crank my bike up and the headlights dont come on or flash then cut off while the bike is still running so i cut her off and on the 3rd or 4th time cranking her up the headlights come on and stay on WTF? is there anything i should check? i put in some brighter xenon bulbs about 6 months ago. any help would be nice i dont want to take it to a shop if i dont have too

Sounds like starter switch. When you crank your bike the headlights go off then back on to save juice and this switch seems to cause many of these issues. I cleaned mine up and hvent had the issue in the last month or so, though I havent owned the bike very long.

it has to be the starter switch because the last time i cranked the bike and the headlights didn't come on i just flicked the start button and the headlights turned on and stayed on

you can take the housint apart and the solder is probably either cracked or getting ready to come off. Just hit it with a soldergun to heat get it back working right. Had this problem with my F4i last year and bought a new switch....coulda just saved the $$

i checked the headlight relay and it seemed fine now i will take the housing off the right handle bar and check it out if that checks out i wont know what else to try but it could have been that the aftermarket bulbs i put it were not the right watts or it could be that i used to always run my high beams 24/7 i put the stock bulbs back in and don't run the high beams anymore but i haven't been riding much since its in the 30's to 40's here in NC plus i have been taking the truck hunting in the morning and afternoon
