Default headlight problem...

hey guys i got an 03 954. i was at a buddys house a little earlier and when i went to leave i noticed the head light wasent on. made me a little worried seeing how i lived about 10 miles away and it was almost midnight. anyway i checked the fuse and its fine, put a new one in just to make sure. but what else can it be? the running light nor the brights work. i checked for loose connections but found nothing? anybody know of anything that it could be. i appreciate it, thanks

if the fuse is definately good then start checkin wires for voltage readings. pretty simple/basic stuff. start at the headlight and check each plug for voltage and work your way back until you find that you are not getting power where you should be and then go from there. other than the on/off highbeam switch maybe going bad (idk if that would even affect the running light though anyway), i dont think there is anything else that can really go bad that you wouldnt be able to find by testing voltages. might as well try tracing the problem if you got some spare time while you wait for another suggestion

This might be a stupid suggestion, but if hi beam works, it is probably just your bulb.

Otherwise, I think there is a headlight relay. I would start by downloading the manual in the 954 main page sticky and look for a wiring schematic.

Good luck!

I had this problem once and it turned out to be the starter button. When you press the starter button the lights go off or dim. When I started it once the button stuck so the lights did not work. So check the starter button and pull on it a little and see.

This happened to me as well. Open up your starter switch and check the solder on the wire connections. Mine was broken off. Grab an iron and re-solder it. Probably from the vibration of the bike it knocked it loose.
