JNS-are you using #'s for both stock and dynojet jets there?

My '91 was ported,Erion cams,Hindle 4/1,K&N,DJ kit,637cc JE @13.5-1 comp,it ran on 126 DJ jets,124 with the stock filter, always on the third clip but I know I used a washer to bump it a half step, but that was only when it ran on race gas, when it also got 128 mains.

Wow! Factory is 9.5 to 1, that's quite a bump in compression!

The numbers I quoted, with regard to needle clip position, is for Factory Pro tapered needles, the fuel screw turn #s are for the stock 38 pilot jets, and the main jets are none of the above, they are just 142 mains, from Keihin, but those numbers denote the ID, so they should be all the same.

Thanks,makes more sense.
Factory comp is around 11:1,I was worried it wouldn't run on pump gas,but I used to work with Rick Hobbs (former Erion Racing crew chief) when he was in Toronto,he told me it would be fine.Rick is incredibly knowledgeable, true super tuner. There was a lot more done to that bike,I'll have to post a new thread.

Dynojet has a unique numbering for their jet sizes. The 126 mains in the DJ kit are quite larger than the Keihlin stockers, which are what 134's?

Partsguy - when you have time would like to hear more about your setup, always nice to get info especially from sources like you had

Yeah, you'll run fine just using higher octane - I don't know why I said stock was 9.5 to 1 , what I meant was 11.5 to 1, which uses 87 octane optimally - I imagine using 93 would work for you.

its weird because the kit says i can use the 126 mains for k&n but who knows. it has a full vance and hines ss2r exhaust. i wish it had a stock header since i found a sweet looking exhaust on ebay. makes it look like 2 pipes instead of one but it wont fit on a race header it only acts up when im steady on the throttle. when i thrash on it it runs mint. maybe ill try another position on the clip then! i was thinkin a lil bigger main but sounds like it would be a waste of money. i know the plastic piece that holds the velocity stacks doesnt fit my carbs right. i have no clue why but only the back row of screws fit. the front row do not line up.so i got it seated the best i could and wrapped duct tape around it to try tostop the air but im sure it didnt stop all the air. i have a feeling thats my biggest problem. it has the f2 airbox but maybe the guy i got it from got that piece off an f3 or something.. he was a meatstick anyways.. he had the directionals wired backwards so they melted and hacked a few other things i had to fix.

I think you found the problem.Start checking around for an air box,a used one will be cheaper than buying that base part new.

No just what Keihin puts on them but it will be easier to tell by looking at a parts fiche.

f3 The tps sensor is a dead giveaway.
