If you want my personal opinion, have the guy do it for 800. I just repainted my bike and it cost me around 600 for everything. And that was with some high end paint/primer/clear ect.

Giving a detailed "how to" to paint is pretty indepth, your going to need everything from guns to tons of grits of sand paper.

Just my opinion is to become a good friend with a painter.

For 800 for a whole bike, I'd say jump on it. The bike isn't too old, and you got a great deal. Painted or not. Get it painted one color, and the your accents, and then clear coated. Should be about 800. It's the knowledge and workmanship you pay for more than anything.

800 for a whole bike sounds a little steep. as far as in depth painting is concerned there really isnt that much "depth". you will need roughly 3 different types of sandpaper maybe 2 other grits so there wouldnt be a need for "tons" of "grits". where are you located?
