TooBroke rebuild 954 thread
Got used front galfer lines in today and during mock up realized I didn't have a double banjo bolt. So I ordered the bolt and crush washers which will be shipped tomorrow.
Will post pics tomorrow.
Sounds really high to me, my whole 09 Ninja 250R (first bike) was painted for less than that. And that was primer, paint, and 2 coats of clear. But it was plain ole white and not pearl.
Found a shop that'll do it for $425 so I went ahead and dropped it off. Will be done in a week so I have time to do some tweaking. I rode it today around the block which was awesome but it has a popping noise from the front. So I ordered new exhaust seals and should see them by the end of the month.
How bad was the tank? How many shops are in your area? Depending on those two things, $450 may not be a bad deal. Did you leave the fuel pump in it? How about the gas cap and rubber grommets? If you left all of those things on - I'd go back ASAP and remove everything. If he wants to open the gas cap to paint it, while he does body work, you could end up with some bondo and other crap in the tank which will affect your fuel pump. Even when you get it back, it's advisable to rinse the tank out with fresh fuel to remove anything that may have gotten into it. The "shop" area of body shops are incredibly dirty.
I'm glad you're getting close on yours... (mine has been buried in a storage shed for a month now... you guys are making me jealous!)

I ended up talking to the shop manager for a good thirty minutes before we decided to pull the trigger. He was a very nice guy who recognized our dilemma and was willing to work with us. He was willing to go the extra steps and redo some of my body work at no extra charge( left side upper body line is not perfect since I did not pull it). Needless to say so far I'm happy with what I'm hearing.
Prior to me stripping the tank a week or so ago i pulled the gas cap, the grommets, and the fuel pump. The tank that was pictured on the bike is a spare I have for testing purposes.
Another update I bleed the front brakes were a total pita! Couldn't get pressure the first night regardless of what I did using normal methods so I went ahead the next day and bought this. http://m.target.com/p/chefmate-flavor-injector/-/A-14242414
And some 1/4 in poly line from home depot. Working awesome to reverse bleed the brakes til the injector cracked( chemical harshnes/pressure). It broke just as I finished my final push through, soi took it back and got another for free.
Got the license plate lights, rear turn signals, front turn signals, and new led turn signal relay all wired and working properly. The light has full running and flashers at correct pace.
The only issue as I posted previously was the odd miss/popping coming from the motor or exhaust. I never replaced the exhaust gasket before so that will be next. I removed the spark plugs and gapped them today though just to double check and the 1&4 cylinders were off by a smidge.
Conrice I am definetly interested in your progress with the micro squirt and the 1000 dual injection! Next bike will probably have some minor boost after I rebuild the motor. So if you could shoot me a pm with some more info if you get a chance.
Thanks all for your continued encouragement.
