why would you want to get rid of the air box? Its there for a reason. And personally i have a K&N but i got it for $20 if i were gonna buy one new it would be a bmc street filter.

K&N sucks ***. everytime i rode my bike i would smell like a gas station when i got off. put the bike back to stock other than the K&N filter and i still stunk. got a stock filter and its all better now. so ive come to the conclusion that the K&N makes my bike run bad and rich, and that was backed up by numerous people on forums who said our bikes + K&N = fail.

I agree that the race flows better but I have seen people complain because it lets dirt in too when used on the street, simply because the conditions are worse. To me its not worth chancing, getting dirt into you engine.

an air filter wont do ****. save your money for something good like a cam or full exhaust, not sayin i wouldnt run an aftermarket filter, im just saying i laugh when someone says they have a k&n when there talking about power mods. bc its really not going to do anything

An air filter by itself isn't going to give any significant performance mods. Increasing the air flow without any specific tuning won't do much. Maybe increase your MPG as it leans out the AF mix. It's when you also change your exhaust profile and jetting is where the air filter will make the most noticeable changes.

The primary reason for using a k&N filter by itself is that its reusuable and rechargeable, saving you $50 every season.
