I got the windshield mount for my android and the suction cup sticks to the tank just fine, use it for music and GPS.

Worth a look to get all your devices working in tandem. I have run mine for years without a problem.

 

I used the Techmount for a ZX-10. I drilled a small hole in the upper fairing stay on the left upper wing below the hole where the windshield screws into it at. Then I was able to use a short screw and nut to secure the Tech Mount to the bike. Very stable platform for my Escort 8500 and MP3 player. I will try to find a pic.
