Default radar detector help

I just purchased a 929 and am having some trouble finding a good spot to mount my radar detector. On my old ZX6R I could fit it right under my windscreen. However, on my 2000 929 I am having a hard time finding a spot. I have to mount it in a spot that is well hidden as I live in Canada and they are illigal here. It does not matter if I can see it or not as I will have it hooked up to speakers in my helmet. I have both side fairings off as well as the whole front end off right now and can't find a spot for the life of me. It's about 6 in long and 4 in wide. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The only problem with sticking it in your jacket is it won't detect laser. How do you find it's radar capabilities when you put it in your jacket? Which way is it facing in your jacket?

There's plenty of room for a radar detector on top of the headlight behind the cluster, no?

If you need it for LIDAR you could make a small mod to the upper to allow line of sight.

Or, you could use a video camera tank mount. They also sell faux-GPS units that look like a GPS, but it's really a fancy cover for a radar detector. Can't remember where I seen them but surely Google will help.

No, there is no room behind the cluster on the CBR. There is a big bolt that holds the front fairing on that is in the way.

I really want to get away from cutting holes in my fairings if I can and a tank mount wont work because it has to be hidden (I live in Canad) A faux GPS Cover sounds interesting.. I will search google.

I'm not trying to jack the thread, but can someone also recommend a good radar (doesn't have to be for a bike since it's going in car). I'm looking to upgrade my older Escort Solo (cordless) to something that has better range. It doesn't have to be cordless. I was looking at Beltronics maybe since it's a good name. Thanks for any help!
