I'll give better detail.....sensor switch is spring loaded, in my case over time the contact point driven by the spring was worn down to the nub thus losing contact when getting hot.

sensor switch is located above the gear shifter, unplug the wire to the switch and screw it out using socket wrench (forgot size), but install new switch and plug wire back on and good to go..... 2 minutes

I have a 99 that had that problem. all I had to do is take the sensor out and clean the connection. then I crimped down on the connector itself a little. mine was just wiggling itself loose
