Default 1996 CBR900rr shift shaft removal???

How do I remove the shift shaft (shift rod)??? Do I need to remove the entire clutch??? Seal is Leaking. I can actually see the seal and where it Leaks from.

Yup, clutch basket has to come out. Easy job. Then after removing shift lever, it just pulls out from the clutch side. It's attached by a spring on the shaft, just give it a good tug and it'll come right off. There's a small black washer on the shaft, make sure you keep up with it, it's easy to lose.

mine was leaking on my 99 and i just used the smallest allen wrench i had and slid it behind the seal and pulled it out came out pretty easy just be carefull not to hit the shift shaft to hard. i heard you had to go threw all that so i tried it a differant way and walla. still dosnt leak after 10,000 miles. sure wish i would have seen this thread earlier i could have saved you alot of time.
