Default stock exhaust shield

hey guys, i was wondering if i can take off the exhaust shield? i have seen people without the shield with an aftermarket exhaust, but i want to keep the stock exhaust. i want to put on a fender eliminator with the stock exaust without the ugly heat shield. can i do this or will it melt plastic??? thank you.

You can coat the underside of the tail section w/ Cool it brand heat tape. Comes in 2" wide rolls. Looks like aluminum foil w/sticky tape on one side. Take the can and sheild off and cover the plastic w/ one good solid layer of the tape and you should have no problems w/melting. Have heard of some doing multiple layers, but I don't think it does much more than 1 layer. Just make sure you clean the plastic real well before applying the tape, so it sticks.

i have a jardine slip on with no heat shielding and haven't noticed any kind of melting. i don't think it would be a problem.

I took off my stock exhaust shield and put some heat reflective tape on the underside of my tail section and it works great, nothing has even come close to melting or anything like that and I can hardly feel any more heat from the seat, it looks way better than stock too, I'd say go for it but use some sort of heat shielding material to save the plastics!

You'll befine w or w.o tape with an aftermarket, stock, no to sure about that one because it runs pretty hot.
