RE: state inspection
Ahh yes, the state inspection. There are mixed opinions about the state inspection. I know people who don't inspect their bikes at all, by an authorized state inspection facility that is. I mean all they do is test your lights, signals and look at your brakes, I do that before every ride. The only real mods which could cause you problems are the license plate location, no leds, no mirrors, etc. They seem to be the biggest deal and the most obvious. Not to name any names, but where I go they will pretty much pass your bike as long as it is driveable, mods and all. Now I say to myself is it worth the $34 or so for the sticker which you can't even see unless you are right up on the bike. The only way you are going to get a ticket for not having an inspection is you gotta get pulled over in the first place

RE: state inspection
i'm in pa too, it just depends who ya go to...i went to a guy who mostly inspected harley's, and he gave me a whole bunch of crap. In pa, you DON'T EVEN NEED TURNSIGNALS...but he was hasseling me about my flushmounts. Found another guy who thought my bike was sick looking, he checked the lights and the tire tread, and i was outta there!

RE: state inspection
I live in Virginia (for another 3 weeks!!!) and state inspections can be a pain here. With all the mods I have, the only one a state inspector told me I'd really have problems with is my tail light. But it's a easy fix. Your turn signals have to be 8" apart and the integrated tail just doesn't do it. He recommended either removing my front signals or installing a quick bracket and wiring plug so I could bolt my stock signals back on just for inspections. In VA signals are not required so if I don't have front, I don't have to have rear.
He also pointed out that if I go to a motorcycle "dealership"... they most likely fail me because none of my signals now say "DOT" anywhere. Ant shop that can inspect towing trailers can also do motorcycles and are much more lenient toward us. Dealerships can some times be a$$holes as he points out. I know I mentioned this before, but the dealership I called and asked "what if" on a few of my mods told me I'd have to put the cheap reflectors back on the sides of my bike to pass. So I'm doing reflective decals in the right color and area where they are required to cover that requirement. If you look at my pics, the yellow Dunlop is 3M Scotchlite. Still looking for a red 600RR to put on my tail.
