RE: Just wanted to say hi.
I trust my dealership to do all my work. They have the best reputation, (my fourth new motorcycle through them). The are highly recommended throughout our area. Never heard or had a problem. Peace of mind knowing it's done right.

I still prefer the piece of mind. Sure, I don't trust the dealership with my bike... and the one by me has a total tool for a manager, but I still let them do the first service. No matter what it was (and I agree that I think they were supposed to do a compression check) that they really did... I changed the oil soon after myself, and have done everything but put tires on since then. As I creep up to my valve check... there's a MUCH nicer Honda dealership that I will take it to for that service. I paid too much for the warranty, again, as piece of mind, to want to chance it thanks to a service like that. Hell, it's one (of the many) reasons I did a slip-on instead of a full exhaust. Keep "Green" and stay away from the pistons. I don't want any excuse. Hell, I even cleared it with a honda dealership that a PCIII wouldn't effect my warranty before I stuck it on there!

RE: Just wanted to say hi.
thanks lrn2go
i just read the whole owners manual.
turn to pg. 225 if u have it handy.
right at the top.
"your warrenty coverage will not be voided if you choose to perform your own maint."
just what i needed
all i need is the service manual and it should give me everything needed for the 600 mile service.
EDIT: and thanks again lrn2go haha
i should have all the service manual d/led here in bout 3 mins then well see what we got

RE: Just wanted to say hi.
its the same sched thats in the owners manual..
just replace the oil and inspect the brakes, clutch, nutds and bolts, and steering head bearings.
a compression check may just have been something extra that your dealer did.
i see no reason to take it in for the initial maint.
im not going to try and out-think the enginners haha
