They are also going to be giving me pain and suffering money as well. I am still on crutches a week later so the amount won't be determined until I am walking again and go see a doctor.

As for the bike, they are coming this week to do their own appraisal and then I have to take it to my local dealership and have them look it over and submit and official estimation.

Regardless this is going to take awhile and will most likely kill the rest of my riding season.

 

be sure to include replacement of all your gear in the estimate. if you crashed in it then get it replaced, whether it appears to be damaged or not. they will replace all of it.

Glad you're okay man. We've all either been down or most likely will go down. As for me, I know how you're feeling. I'm happy to hear the guy is an upfront guy and is taking the blame and making sure you're getting taken care of. Don't rush back on the bike to ride with you're girl if you're not ready, make sure that ankle can support the bike. Good luck on your recovery.

 

Make sure you check over EVERYTHING on your bike before you bring it home from the dealer doing the repairs. I had a bike get hit in a parking lot a few years ago; lots of damage, lots of $. i took it to a dealer to get it fixed up and they replaced the plastics and sent me on my way. problem is, my forks are still bent..... I took it home though, so it's my problem now.

Glad to hear you were able to limp away from this one. Even though the other driver was at fault, don't be surprised if his insurance company low ***** you on the pain and suffering. You may end up needing the services of a good attorney to get what you deserve.

 

Yeah the seems to be the general consensus from people I have been talking to. From what I am told, just threatening with a lawyer will help get more money out of them.

Ankle is finally doing better. I am off of crutches for the first time today. Insurance guy looked at the bike this morning as well and said he would guess that it is totaled; guess we'll see.

As far as repairs go. If it's not totaled, I will be taking it to my "local" dealer which is actually 40 minutes away. They are a great bike shop though. Very meticulous and make sure everything is done properly as if they were working on their own bike.

I hate to say it, but, if it's totaled this might be my last crotch rocket. Thinking about going to a more comfortable ride with a cruiser. Although I more than likely will want to own two bikes; cruiser and CBR.

I was in the same position, and that's what I did. Kept the CBR and bought an '81 Goldwing with 45k miles for next to nothing. Rides like an overstuffed leather couch strapped to a boat motor. Every bike Honda makes is a tank.

 

I am just wondering if the injury is bad enough to go to the hospital, being I don't have any health insurance. Anyone have any suggestions?? The bruise is numb, and I feel numbness tingling feeling around my caf and shin region. Thanks!
