Default Valves rattling when cold?

I fix one problem just to have more problems lol. I think this bike wants to work on her more than I ride her. Anyway, this thing wants to knock when I first crank it up cold. It sounds like the valves and it very well could be. They probably need adjusting. Its not the chain tensioner. Already fixed that problem lol and this is coming from the top of the motor. Once its warm I don't hear it anymore.

where do you live and what oil do you use?
believe it or not, my bike makes different sounds because of those 2 variables.

fill us in with some information..
maybe a video/audio of the sound

anything that might help us.

I live in SC and use 20w-50 Honda oil. Now I'm pretty sure its one of two things, either A, the valves are out of adjustment or B, the oil is just thick and takes its sweet time pumping up to the top of the motor. It was 105 degrees the other day in my building when I went out to get on it so I'm not so sure on the oil being thick.

Yikes... off-topic, but put some 10w40 in there and take some of the load off of your oil pump..

+1 on the oil, +1 on it being the valves. How many miles does that engine have on it?

I'm not sure on miles, the motor has been changed on it but as far as the oil goes, I'm going to change the oil and go with some 10w-40.

I changed it out and put some Mobil 1 4t 10w-40 full synthetic in her. She still ticks when warming up. I'm going to get a video of it soon to see if we can get some sound. Tell you one thing though, it seems to run better with the 10w-40 as apposed to the 20w-50 lol.
