Are you saying that you have to go 105 mph to get the lights to turn on, or that only that part of the dial has illumination ?
If it's the later, there are small bulbs located behind the panel that can be replaced. I've had a couple go out on mine. You pretty much have to remove the upper fairing in order to get to them. They're inside the little brown or black holders that are easlily removed with 1/4 turn.
This is what they look like when you get them out.
I used these to replace mine. They're not the exact same model, but they work and are available locally.
This is how it looks after replacing some of the bulbs. These are a little brighter than the OEM and you can see it's a little brighter in different parts of the guages. The bike now has 53K miles on it (photo shows 40K) so the fact that they're .2w to .5w brighter doesn't seem to be an issue.
