Just yesterday, the speed on my spedometer just went to o as i was just cruising at 40mph or so. This morning, my FI light turned on. I'm a little overdue for an oil change, which i plan on doing tomorrow. Other then that, my bike is in great shape.

So how/where do i check for loss of speedo, and what do i check for FI light turning on?

 

I should also note when i turned it on it's kickstand the FI light turned off

 

Throw yer battery on a battery tender for a few hours.......on my R6 it did crazy stuff like that when i had a low battery........just a thought

 

And check the fuse, I had a similiar problem just ended up being a blown fuse

 

My 01 f4i does the exact same thing. Speed sensor is damaged i guess. Sometimes my speedo works fine, then while riding, it shuts off and stays at 0, then turns back on some other time. If I shut off the bike, and turn it on again, it works. While riding, FI light turns on sometimes, and turns off.

Don't worry bout anything wrong with your bike. Nothing particularly dangerous going on right now for you. Just your speed sensor that's all. Good thing to fix it, but there's no rush. Mine's been like this for 1 year already, lol.

 

It'll throw the FI light on when the speed sensor isn't working correctly as well. I had a similar issue with my speedohealer... I put my cable back in my trunk, where my speedohealer box is at also, and didn't realize I bumped several of the switches out of place. So I head off down the road and it's reading 0 mph. After about 3 miles or so of that it'll turn on the FI light
