Have covered roughly 60 miles on the bike now, it feels a little more alive now, going to run Redex through it, as it seems that whatever was holding it back is gradually disapating from the fuel system, somewhere

a good shot of redex wont do any harm, might smoke a bit for a while as it burns off. i always put a good dose in the tank and run it for about 5 mins when i lay the bike up for the winter. done it for the past 8 years on my cbr 1000 streetfighter and had no problems

Yeah mate, I'll def give it a go. The bike hadn't been taxed since '08, guy I bought it from just took it in a car deal he'd done and hadn't even ridden it, so hard to know when it was last in regular use, although it is extremely clean for a '96. The inside of the tank looks clean enough, down pipes are quite rusted, I might wrap it see if I can get a 2nd hand set, the Fuel end can doesn't sound spectacularly loud, even with baffle out, so might be a blow out in the header somewhere. Cheers
