Default Dead battery. HELP

Hi guys,
First a little history. Riding the bike, get home, try to start the next day. Flat battery. Buy a new battery, lasts for three days then flat again. Call the local bike shop and he says replace the voltage regulator/rectifier. Charge the new battery replace the rectifier and ride around for a while.

The thing starts a couple of times after riding around.

Next day (today)dead again!!!!!

What the hell could be wrong. Stator maybe? Any help appreciated.

what is the stator? How does it work? How does it work hand in hand with the regulator rectifier?

....did you actually read what he posted? or just assume from your previous experiences that it was his R/R that went? you know the stators on these bikes do go sometimes too!!!!

Think of it like the alternator on the car...it supplies constant unregulated(to a point) voltage for the bikes electronics, the Regulator/Rectifier Does exactly what its name implies. Battery drops below certain voltage, R/R Charges it till its good again, typically right after starting your bike.

Original poster...check the stator...that would be the next bet, also are there any blown fuses, loose or shorted wires? Check the ground near the R/R and the stator connections(A service manual helps...its in the general tech forums under "post manual sites here")
