96 valve adjustment PLZ HELP!!!!

What the others are saying is right. Valves are supposed to done every 24000klms (15000mls), so its probably due. Also I relate to noise issues with bikes & after a while they can seem & sound much worse than they really are. I to have done shim adjustments on multi's & you can go mental from actually doing the work & then from wondering if you did it right in the 1st place (made me really appreciate the screw tappet adjustment on my Beemer). Get it done by the shop.

From joe325's description of how he installed the bolt with locknut it does not sound to me like he added so much pressure to the chain tensioner that it would cause the chain to rub through the guide. It sounds like he added just enough to take the slack out of the chain and stop the noise. I actually think that using a manual chain adjuster would give you more of a chance of over-tightening the chain than this method would. Although, the best thing to do would be to just buckle down and buy a new automatic tensioner that adjusts the chain exactly to honda specs and take human error out of the equation. That's just my opinion though
