Default Valve Adjustment

Was wondering how often you guys are getting your valves adjusted. I can here a loose one at idle. The dealer told me an adjustment is needed every 16 thousand miles.

16k is what is suggested. i just hit that but haven't had mine done yet. fyi...the loose valve you are hearing may actually be the cam chain tensioner which is known for making noise at idle. especially when the engine is not yet warmed up.

Mine and my good buddies checked out fine at 18K and neither needed adjusting. Both are rode like sportbike is intended. I blame the high quality oils! One of the bikes has a new cct, the other has not had anything but routine care.

I just replaced the cct and the sound remains. I didn't figure it was that, but it was time to change it anyway. I called the dealer, decribed the sound, and he seemed confident it just needed a valve adjustment. I figure routine maintenance like this is a good idea whether it needs it or not ... so, good bye $225.
