Default Valve adjustment

I see the manual shows checking the valves ever 16,000, but I was wonder how often they need adjustment as a general rule.

I've never had a bike much over 16K, I keep crashing them so they dont need maintenance like that.

fwiw, I have heard of many guys going way beyond the 16k without needing adjustment.

I have an 02 F4i with 34000 miles on it. I check the clearance every 16000 miles, but have not had to adjust at all.

+1........I've checked mine at 30k only (on each bike) and only one ......one valve that is......has ever needed enough adjustment to warrant it. It doesnt hurt to check it at 30K but I wouldnt do it before that, and probably not again after that.

Hondas hold their valve clearances VERY well. I can almsot guarantee they'll all be fine at 16k. Even alot of shops I know will tell you to just wait until 32k, cuz they're never out of adjustment at 16k.

Mine I checked every 30k or so.... always in spec and never had to actually adjust any until 100k miles. Had 5 intakes were just barely out of spec

Yeah making money off me too. I paid for adjustment around 17k and was even provided specs for how much adjustment each needed to get back into spec. Wish I could find someone who knew how to do it, who could show me.

Tell me and I'll forget
Show me and I'll remember
(how does the rest of that go?)
