yeah its a pretty standard bolt. i went to home depot, walked into the hardware section and found it within thirty seconds. i used the bolt with the allen head because any other wrench was a pain in the @$$.

I assume you don't have to take the CCT off the bike right? Did you adjust it like a manual ape cct by just bumping the start button until it didn't sound like it was rattling? Thanks in advance

no i didnt bump it at all. i just screwed the bolt in slowly until i felt it touch inside and just barely gave it another hair turn and then tightened the nut. works perfectly

Default CCT Fix

hmmmm, good find I think.

From here on out every time you change your oil and filter save the filter and let it dry out and drain real well.

Then cut that puppy open and pull out the paper element.

You will be looking for dark red and black hard rubber shavings or hunks.

What you have done is moved the adjustment or pressure cam chain guide past OEM specs and the chain will ride the rubber guide more and on more of the guide than before.

This CCT fix will be fine untill the chain wears through this adjusting guide which in time it will.

Just keep the oil level to specs and don't run it low and you should be fine.

From joe325's description of how he installed the bolt with locknut it does not sound to me like he added so much pressure to the chain tensioner that it would cause the chain to rub through the guide. It sounds like he added just enough to take the slack out of the chain and stop the noise. I actually think that using a manual chain adjuster would give you more of a chance of over-tightening the chain than this method would. Although, the best thing to do would be to just buckle down and buy a new automatic tensioner that adjusts the chain exactly to honda specs and take human error out of the equation. That's just my opinion though
