Wondering if white smoke is the leftover seafoam that I had in the gas or just the bike clearing out all the crap from sitting for a year. Also sounds like the tensioner is not happy, decent clicking/knocking noise. I definitely have some work to do!

this is after the spark plugs were changed, finally got it lol maybe an oil change might help free it up? Fingers crossed!

im getting overly excited/ ahead of myself lol white smoke is gone and the cam noise goes away and comes back when I rev it alittle bit. I’m think oil change is definitely due, going to do that today!

The white smoke isn’t uncommon. It should clear up after the bike has been running for just a bit. If it doesn’t, that’s another thing to straighten out.

a fresh oil change is always a good thing. That will only help any possible CCT issues.

Thanks again! She’s running smooth as silk all the way to 10k, didn’t go past that haha it’s been awhile, but I can definitely hear what sounds like the cct. Going to see how much an oem one is! She’s back alive!

Welp, she lasted a good 2 weeks. I did a hard acceleration up to about 125 and came to a light and it started to idle low. In my head I’m like, this isn’t good. It stalled and I was able to get it started with about 50% throttle and ride it home, approx 1 mile with it sounding like a moped, #2 cylinder exhaust is cool enough that I can keep my hand on it, the others I can only touch for a split second. Once home I pulled the plugs, if I remember correctly 2 was pretty wet, after trying to start for about 5 seconds. Started taking fairings off and the rain came in so I put the bike away. Fast foward 2 days to today and I noticed fuel on the floor. Tried to start and it hydrolocked 😬 pulled all 4 plugs and cranked and fuel shot out of, I believe #2 before the fuel got on me. I’m hoping just a stuck float caused the issue while riding so I’ll be pulling the carbs AGAIN and while they’re off, testing the cdi’s, and for spark to rule that out. I’m guessing the float got stuck, which is weird as all the float needles looked immaculate.

carb 1 and 2 were flooded up to the butterfly’s. Their is a slight indentation on the float valves so I just ordered some. Will also be doing that evap delete mod as that black canister was full of fuel unless they dry out or are still good, that’s crazy that fuel made its way up to those lines!

Considering just getting fuel injected bike if I get her going to sell 😅

So I’m not too sure where to go from here but the bikes starts up and runs, revs sound good, but once the engine is hot it does not want to idle. It slowly goes from about 1500 down until it stalls. Rev’s will keep it going no problem but as soon as throttle is released it will die.

ordered the carb tune pro and hoping I can get a good sync because it says to do while the engine is warmed up.

When cold I tested the CDI’s per the clymer manual and they were in spec, including the plug wires. I tested each spark plug with each wire grounded to the engine and sparks look pretty good.

This is after pulling the carbs again when she stalled on the road and once home flooded the carbs and motor.

The new oem cct will be here tomorrow as the rattle is pretty bad.

Also ordered a new k&n filter as the jets seemed to account for that and the filter that’s in there now is dry and looks old.

i also did the evap delete due to those black canisters deteriorating internally.

Used steel wool for the float valve seats and they are sliding great and the engine is not becoming flooded and spark plugs aren’t wet, just a slight carbon residue. They are only 50 miles old.

pilot screws are out 2-1/2. Which is what they were at when I received the bike.

Any other suggestions at this point, or continue troubleshooting on the path that I wrote above?

UPDATE: installed new oem cct, rattle is gone, bike sounds happier.

but here it is, bike started to drop idle so I removed air box and filter and the idle comes right back up. Just putting the air box back on while running and the bike drops idle until it just about stalls, remove the air filter and rpm’s climb back up to idle. Haha who would’ve thought!

So when you say you did the Evap delete, what exactly did you do? What did you block off and how did you route things?

So the yellow line represents the new tube which eliminated everything else that was connected. And for the right side, that actually stayed the same. I had to clean and use that black filter box that’s tucked under as a tube joint. Currently at work but I can take a picture when I get home tomorrow. I’m hoping this isn’t causing any issues but I do still have all the parts, and one of the front deer whistle looking vents wasn’t even connected to the fairing so I figured wasn’t doing me good anyway!

just started up today full choke cold, no problem at all! I know the tubing looks alittle funky but I didn’t want to cut anything just yet if this is screwing with the bike.

i just noticed also the fuel pump is clicking crazy fast, sounds like a lawn sprinkler 😅 it’s staying on and once I put the filter box on I have to increase the idle to keep it running under 2k rpms. When disconnecting the pump while running im getting 10vdc. Not sure if it should be clicking that fast. I’m using a small auxiliary bottle and it’s sipping the gas pretty slow
