. Is yours a respray at some point? I'm UK so wondered if US bikes were supplied in this paint scheme?
The previous owner had the entire bike re-sprayed. The bike is a smokin joes edition and I guess he didn’t like the color of the fairings. It originally looked like the last picture in the post above 👆

Mines a 1997 UK model. I believe from where the yellow paint has chipped it was originally in this scheme.

It was resprayed by a previous owner into the yellow scheme. Just that I had never seen a basically plain yellow one before and wondered if it was based on a US model?
Yes original exhaust, I rather like the look of the big black lump tacked on the side contrasting with the bright yellow!!!

Funny how the two previous owners of these bikes had the same basic scheme in mind and were only separated by the Atlantic Ocean LOL
Personally I always liked the Smokin' Joe scheme. The camel and wording decals on mine are my variation on that without going the whole hog.

I really wouldn’t have minded the smokin joe’s theme either! Kind of prefer that over the all yellow but it’s still a gorgeous looking bike. I do like the black exhaust on yours!

As I’m cleaning the carbs again, I noticed the bystarter jet is completely clogged. I sprayed and sprayed and blew 100 psi into it and nothing is coming out the other side. Is their another way to stick something in there without damaging it? 3 out of 4 are completely blocked, 1 of them is just barely allowing the compressed air through . #1 is the diagram below

One of the really required things to do is totally separate and disassemble every components of each carb. This includes separating the carbs from each other.
Once you do that the next thing to do is let each carb body soak in a fully submerged bath of carb cleaner. A good long soak each one will go a long way in breaking up and dissolving all the nastiness. It's like cleaning out your ears, you'll be surprised at what you pull out of there.

Damn, was really hoping I didn’t have to do that but probably has never been done with this bike 😥 if I want zero issues once getting this thing going I might as well dig in! Should I start ordering the o rings etc on ronayers for the plastic tubes? Anything else that you should normally replace or have seen fail?

I was actually able to clear 1 of them with a guitar string so now I know 100% this is my problem. I’m going to keep clearing it out with the string and cleaner and see if this bike runs and then do a compression test, valve check, before I spend more time on money on it! I’d hate to do all this and it has a worn ring or something that I don’t really have the time to do at this moment! 3 kids 😅

That is good news. The engines are pretty resilient if they are reasonably cared for. As to the O-rings, @IDoDirt has a great source for a complete set.

Awesome thanks a lot! Will hopefully be able to work on it this weekend and update the post!

That’s definitely good to hear! I got 3 of the carbs cleared but I’m thinking #3 might be damaged. That orifice is so small it looks like it’s kind of warped like somebody put a tiny needle in there and messed up the whole. From what I found missing/installed incorrectly I’m guessing the mechanic wasn’t too great. Do they even make drillbits that small? I’m looking into used carb assemblies now as I’m thinking this is not repairable :/
