Question for a newbie
Hi,
I'm brand new to the forum and had a question for you CBR guru's, whaht do you think of my first Sport Bike being a 93 Honda CBR 600? The bike is in great condition, hes asking 2300, is that a good price? I'm 19 years old, I got my motorcycle endorsement 2 years ago, I've been riding dirt bikes for a little while, but its a child hood dream of mine to ride these bad boys. Just let me know what you think, I don't wanna die any time soon!
Thanks,
Sage Hickam

do a search there are a TON of topics the same as the one you just posted and read some of those and i think you will find your answer...
but that is a loaded question because some will say start as small as you can and some will say go big because you will "grow" into it...
my .02 is a F2 is the perfect starter bike, cheap, quick, classic and you can get parts easy for them and pretty forgiving bike... but dont dont think that it cant hurt you because it is still a powerful machine..
hope that helps and i wasnt trying to be a jerk by the first two things. just stuff to be aware of...

My first bike (and still my current bike) is a 93 600F2. I had ridden dirt bikes as a kid, but had never ridden a sreet bike before. I think it's a really good starter bike.
I paid $2400 for mine, and it's in decent shape with 23000 miles on it.
The 600 has PLENTY of power, and it DOES go fast (0-60 in less than 4 seconds), so if you do get it, be careful!

hey thanks for the quick replies, bindelsf2, I almost bought your exact same bike, I swear it was crazy, he almost scammed me and tried to tell me it was an 01, but I new the headlight wasn't right. I swear it was your exact bike, he custome painted it your orange and has an exact match helmet. It was on craigslist in boise idaho! They deleted his post for fraud!! I don't know if it was your bike but they looked exactly the same.
Also, what should I look for when I test the bike out? What are some typical problems with tehse bad boys. Oh yeah one thing you should know about me, I'm not the type of guy that speeds everywhere, parking lot wheelies, I just want to ride.
Thanks,
sage

Check the oil level if possible, and check to see if it smells like gasoline. Check the level and color of the coolant level. Push down on the front and back to see if the forks/rear shock are still in good shape. Check for any color smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Listen for clanks/clunks/ticks, etc coming from the motor.
There's really a million things to check for. The good thing about this bike is there's a million parts for it on eBay, and it's relatively easy to work on. I recommend investing $20 and getting a Clymer's manual for the bike. It shows you step-by-step how to do everything to it. Good luck

me and tennesse are fighting for your attention.....but yeah what he said.exactly what he said..
oh and check the wear on the tires.. they get a little pricy and maybe will give you something to talk him down some money on if they are bad...
ALOT of people are doing that now. they are getting on forums and taking the pics and putting them on ebay and craigslist as their bike to get the money and its a scam. i knew someone who found his bike on 2 different sites for sale and he wasnt selling it or in either of the states that they claim it was in.... but whatcha gonna do..
