Default Overheating/Battery draining issues

I just bought a used F2 with about 30K on it. Only mods i can see are turn signals and a yoshi pipe. The other day, i rode it for the first time, about 2 miles in, the battery died. Replaced it yesterday and rode it no problem. Put about 2 hours on it today in a bit of stop and go traffic and ended up stalling the bike, and it woudn't restart. I noticed that the fan doesn't seem to work, i unplugged the clip and ran 2 wires directly to the battery, and no spin. Would oveheating cause the battery to drain faster, or does it sound like i have possible electrical issues as well? Any insight would be helpful, also, anyone selling a radiator fan? Thanks.

Was the guage to the red? if not the bike really didn't overheat.

You have electrical issues. You'll need to check the service manual for check procedures, but based on what I have read, the regulator may be the problem. there are diagnostic procedures in the service manual. There are also check procedures for the fan. I believe if you ground the sensor it should make the fan go on. I know used fan motors are available fairly cheap.

Come to think of it, the guage never did go into the red. This is a brand new battery, so i know thats not the issue, i'm just not sure where to start with troubleshooting.

You, my friend, more than likely, have a bad regulator/rectifier...Read up on the many topics posted here...

Regulator bad but the fan is probably also toast if it did not spin. Mine isn't working right now but with high temps of 70 I haven't needed it yet. -eBay is your friend for the fan, but be careful what yours looks like and what the replacement looks like. There was a design change at some point.

Get the one from a GSXR, like this. Dont even bother buying an OEM one.

If the regulator is working properly, check the connector on the wire that comes from the alternator: a three pins connector just in front of the battery, under the tank. Usually, that connector gets wet when you ride in the rain and the contact are poor. This means that even the alternator and regulator work OK, they are shortcircuited in the connector.
