i finally got a chance to replace the R/R. Not sure if you guys remember but i bought a gixxer R/R to replace it with...

the soddering was a pain but it turned out be fairly easy... just required patience. i can post pics of the finished product but it looks almost identical to the pics in the link above.

i also put on the chain guard i purchased from amazon.com for $30...

it was a very productive night. the only thing left is to fill and install the battery (which i'm gonna wait to do until I start riding consistently) and change the oil...

i just wish the weather changes soon....
