'93 F2 Mods - Phase 2
Agreed. But for a first full race run, both riders/CRTs did alright, especially the Attack bike, with how little time they had testing with the components that he actually wanted to run! It will be interesting to see how they do this year.
I think regardless, I really like seeing people/business getting involved in the sport. I wish Dorna did a better job of telling these stories and bringing attention to the efforts involved. It would make for good viewing.
In recent days, lap times from these different machines at the same track, under similar conditions, are putting SBK machines ahead of ALL of the CRT bikes, and some prototypes!!! One of these recent instances happened at the same TIME and same track!!
This article makes for some interesting reading, though if you follow racing, this particular "writing on the wall" has been glaringly apparent for some time.
Backmarker: Production Bikes vs. MotoGP - Motorcycle USA
One thing to keep in mind, that he only breifly addresses in this article, is that though World Superbikes are "production-based", if you follow the technical side of the various series', you know already that "production-based" is just a smidge misleading - these machines are MEGA trick! Even AMA superbikes (especially factory rides) are quite removed from what you pick up at a dealer.
At any rate, the article is still worth the read.
Yeah, WSBK are incredible machines for sure and the resources that some teams have at their disposal definately have lead to eeking out every ounce of advantage from the rules. I don't really like the idea of "dumbing down" WSBK by Dorna to make MotoGP "look better" but I feel like that will end up being the result.

On my front, I've got some news... firstly, I'll be installing my speed bleeders and NRC race cover for the pulse generator this weekend, and secondly, I should be picking up my new F2 tomorrow, so that I can finally have a dedicated street bike, and put this one in full-time race setup.
I'll be putting all my current street garb on the new F2, and selling off it's existing bodywork, as well as the seat, tail/stop light assembly, rear peg bracket/helmet lock assemblies, and some other stuff.
Unfortunately, it's blue with white rims, so I'll have to eventually get the rims powder coated.
