Sorry to hear about the dog bro, I'm a grown man and I'm not afraid to admit I cried for days and needed time off work when we lost ours :/

But congrats on the forks. They look ace, my new ones will be delivered tomorrow, and I'm going to try and get them installed as soon as possible.

Kind of jealous seeing two bikes in your garage (-_-)

It's amazing how much a part of the family an animal can become - practically a person.
And, yesterday moring was terrible!!

My dog died Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, I'm driving just 2 minutes from my house, to get a Rockstar, to start my day, and just over a block down the river, there's a guy knelt down in the gutter, next to a dog. I'm thinking, "oh man, a dog got hit, and he's trying to help it". He had his right hand on the right side of his head, so I thought he was on the phone, maybe trying to call a number on the collar. Then, I'm on the way back, and decide to pull over and see what's up, and the same guy is standing on the river bank, balling his eyes out, because the dog was dead, and it was his.
There was a guy with a dualie truck parked there now, and he was sitting quietly on his tailgate, prepared to help the guy get his dog home. I told the dog's owner that, believe it or not, I understood, because I lost my dog less than 24 hours before.

While I finished my "breakfast" cigarette, on my porch, I could see him loading the dog and driving away, then, I see a lady across the river, walking two Alaskan Malamute's (my dog was a Malamute)... I've never even seen another of this kind of dog in my neighborhood, in 11 years, and now, after I lose mine, there's two right across the river?!? I'm thinkin' "man, I wanna go back to bed, and try this morning all over again!"

Yeah, I lucked out - they look really good, and the seals are even good, which is a shocker.
I'll still have to re-spring them, and replace the fork oil, before I can run them on the race bike, in serious use.

They both look kind of "raggedy", in their current transitional state, but it's gonna be great when they're both fully functionally and "ride-ready"!

Jeez, man, sorry to hear about the dog. I had to watch one of my moms dogs (papillon) to go in the lounge of a vet clinic. Nothing we could do. One of the most awful things I`ve ever had to see... Me and my wife now have our own dog, a cockerspaniel, full of life and always begging for attention. I know for sure I`m gonna be devastated when his time comes...

All the power to you, it`s inevitable, no matter how little all of us dog owners want to think about it...

E: dang, got something in my eye... :/

Sorry to hear about your dog, JNS. I've been through the same, cried for days.

So sorry to hear about your dog. We have a 7 year old black lab and our lives revolve around that guy. I've lost dogs in the past and I think every dog owner probably knows how you must be feeling.

Probably a good idea to lose yourself in the bikes for a while.

Thanks to all, regarding my dog... I'm still shocked at how much it hurt me to lose him.

I did try to do my usual thing, and get really busy in the garage - it's not like I am lacking in things to get done right now!
Friday was a bust - I didn't even bother.
Saturday, I got started, but was kind of slow going, but I finally was able to really get into the groove on Sunday, and get more done, but since Ihad already wasted a lot of good work time, I've still got a lot to do.

Yesterday I got the '93 Race Tech sprung forks installed on the new bike, and got everything up front cleaned and torqued to spec. I tested the tripmeter/speedometer - works fine, which is nice.

Installed, properly positioned, and torqued, the new clip-on bar for the clutch side, as well as the lever perches. Also installed the new clutch lever, grips, and replaced the instrument bezel and shroud, as the one on the bike was broken in several places.

One of the POs replaced the stator cover with a brand new OEM unit, but I am assuming they either failed to torque the bolts correctly, did not install the gasket correctly, or failed to properly clean the old gasket material from the mounting surface, as there was a very slight oil leak at the bottom of the cover, taking about 10 minutes to form each drop of oil, while running hot. I loosened each bolt a touch, and torqued them to spec, using a good sequence pattern... we'll see if that cures the leak, otherwise I'll have to get another gasket and do it properly.

Incredible is the only word I can find to describe your project! Your track bike is beautiful, paint scheme looks great and the whole bike looks immaculate. I would love to have a go on a track, although I'm not a particular fast rider, I think I would enjoy the experience and it would probably improve my riding.

Sorry to hear about your dog. They become part of the family and it can be hard to face when they're gone.

Thanks, Steven.

That's how you get fast!

Oh yeah, you would surely enjoy it - nothing like it at all - once you go, all you can think about is getting back!! And, without a doubt, what you learn on the track, makes you think differently when you ride on the street, then, you'll also find yourself thinking in terms of "racing lines", when you're riding on the street.

Thanks, I'm sure I'll be a little numb for a few more days yet, and sad occasionally, when I think about him.
