I see where you're coming from, Gary, but honestly, it will indeed be done at that point, I swear!! Wanna know why I'm so sure??
'Cuz I will then be selling it, and finally picking up a 954RR, THEN the constant search for more-better-faster-stronger-lighter will begin all over again!!

Default F2 Street Rebuild Stage 1

I got a few small things done to the street bike this weekend, starting with removing the OEM exhaust, and cleaning up the front of the engine.

I installed the stator, with the new polished cover and a new gasket.

Mounted the straight fairing stay, which was formerly on the race bike, replaced by the Graves racing unit.

After installing the much prettier Two Brothers header on the race bike, I installed the other one on the street bike.

And lastly, I got the top triple clamp stripped, ready to be polished.

Now that's a plan I can understand! Now if you can stick to it. Which I'm pretty sure you will. I have heard you mention the 54 several times.

In the first stage, I'll continue to put it back together with the parts I already have, and get the fairing kit on the way. I've got to put new seals in the forks, and swap one of the sliders out for one from another set of forks that I have, as a fender bolt is broken off and seized in the threads, and I've already exhausted all efforts to remove it.
An oil change will happen, the refurbishing of the Two Bros. muffler, and the installation of the new bodywork and stainless steel brake lines up front.
I'll be running the tank cover that comes with the bodywork at this time, so I can ride. Somewhere around this time, I'll get another F3 rear wheel on the way, to be later powder-coated with my spare front, as a set.

In the second stage, I'll be removing all items from the F2 subframe, and then assembling the subframe, tray, seats, peg bracket/exhaust hanger, and tail fairing from an early F4i (with stepped seat), so that with the rest of the fairings and tank mounted, I can use the fully assembled tail to try and determine the positions for cutting the existing subframe, and welding/fabricating up the bracketry for mounting the new tail section, and fabricating a rear tank mounting on the new subframe.
Once the tail is successfully mounted, everything comes off, for powder-coating the frame, subframe, swingarm, and wheels, meanwhile I'll paint/decal the new tail plastics and tank to match the new bodywork.
I'll use whatever combination necessary of a fender eliminator, integrated tail light kit, undertail, etc., to clean up the F4i rear.

And then... well that's it... there is no and then, it's done!
sounds great...looking forward to see the progress...

Default F2 Street Rebuild Stage 1

Only getting stuff done in little bits...

Re-installed the battery box, re-routed and secured the harness, got all the sub-harnesses connected at the battery junction box, got the battery in and charging, and installed the base for the Fender Eliminator, which already has the tag light and signals mounted.

I transferred the cooling fan and mounting grommets to the new radiator, and mounted/connected it, along with the horn.

I bought the radiator a while back, and just gave a quick glance at it, and set it aside... big mistake!
The seller on eBay lied, stating it had no damage and no leaks - I had to bend some of the mounting tabs straight - it's obvious it was on a bike that was crashed, or it was mishandled after removal. Also, I had to do some re-shaping of the filler tube, so that it was circular rather than ovular, just so I could actually get the cap to tighten correctly... with water in it, and tipping it upside down, no water leaks out of the cap, but when its pressurized, it could be a different story.

The reason I normally frown upon used parts, I`ve been scammed a few times with them and now if I buy anything used, it`s always from a chop shop, from my experience it`s cheaper to buy the new straight up rather than buy a used, see it`s crap, fight over it, swallow the loss and get the new one...

I've been VERY fortunate in that regard, as this is the first used item I've ever purchased, where the seller was straight-out dishonest, come to think of it, this is the first time I've had any issue with buying any used parts, whether on eBay, or from a forum member... I don't remember what I paid for it, but I know it wasn't a lot.

Anyway, hopefully my attempts at re-shaping the filler will work out, I'll know as soon as I get the carbs and ignition switch remounted!

wow talk about some progress Jeff. If you dont mind me asking, what are your tools/procedures for polishing, Ive seen some really rough and not so shiny polishing, yours look nice and smooth.

Ill put my 2 cents on used parts, till now Ive always had good luck (knock on wood) but I tend to buy more from ebay than the forums because of the warranty and paypal protection, you just never know who is really selling because he needs money or space and who's trying to screw you over.
