I'm assuming it's just a series of resistors, but if it's a sealed item, I'm not gonna bother opening it up to see! I just want to get this thing to read correctly, so I can get the harness cut to size, solder/heat shrink all the connections, and put the fairings back on!!

Oh I agree... I just like tearing things up to see how they can be configured lol

For sure, I do to, which means I probably will open it up ... just to satisfy my curiosity, and to know how to make one, for another application, or for someone else performing the same install!

That's exactly what I was thinking... May just be possible to reverse engineer it to use in "other" tach applications seeing as how that seems to be the biggest issue with them. Of course, me being inquisitive by nature, I do believe I may have to guinea pig up and figure it out.

On another note, do you know where I can find the strap that actually goes around the slip on? Mine seems to be mia.... Yoshi doesn't list it on their sight that I can find and, well, I'm to lazy to try and fan one at the moment...

Honestly, I have no idea... which slip-on are you running?

I would probably just contact Yoshimura R&D, in the U.S., at 1-800-634-9166, or send an email to them: technicalrequest@yoshimura-rd.com

If you've got an RS-3, which is oval, since you can order nameplates, replacement sleeves, inserts, and packing, I would be surprised if they don't have the strap available separately as well, though if they do, I don't understand why they wouldn't list it with the other replacement parts.

If you've got one of the older, round stainless steel R&D mufflers, which were the predecessor to the RS-3, it might be tougher to find, but I would call them anyway... maybe they can still hook you up with one.

I honestly have no idea Lol it was on there before... Its oval ish. Pointed oval I that makes sense. But more triangle. Looks similar to the rs3 so who knows. Guess I'll give them a shout, maybe they can help

Can't find my direct links, but I know I read about the koso and knock offs on cf forum under electrical. Also on a Peoria riders, I think that's how you spell it. I'll keep looking later just in case. It was supposedly caused by the stock signal being varying dc and the aftermarket needing pulse.

Pretty sure my yosh is a trs. Least that's what it looks like. Thank for the number.
Good luck with the filter.

Well, even with direct pulse, it still is a failure, so hopefully this filter will do the trick.

Yuppers, you've definitely got a TRS - I hope they can get you a hanger.

The filter came in yesterday, or should I say, the RPM Signal Adapter, as it is named - the shipping was pretty quick.

Hopefully this little doo-dad will correct the tach issues.

I'm anxious to be done with this installation!
To finish the wiring nicely, once I know everything is working properly, I got some more heat-shrink tubing, solder, and a new soldering iron, as my last one has gone MIA.

I am happy and relieved to report that I now have a working tachometer - the item sent by Koso did the trick!

Starting tonight, I'll work on revising the harnesses, getting all the wires soldered up, and covering all the soldered joints with heat-shrink tubing.
