Questions about my 1000RR
I want my 1000 to ride as much like a 600 as possible....to me this 1000 feels much more soft and squishy and i want to set it up more ridged and stiff, more like my ZX6R used to feel....what adjustments should i make to my front and rear shock to get as close to this feeling as possible, anyone have any ideas?

RE: Questions about my 1000RR
There's three different settings to your suspention: preload, which you set first, then two types of dampening. You might be able to find the formula to set your suspention just right but you'll need at least two other guys and a lot of bull ****. Also, your owner's manual will give you the basic low down on how to adjust. HOWEVER, I suggest getting it done professionally. I tried setting mine myself and I don't have confidence in it because I was guessing. It's only going to cost me $35 and couldn't cost you too much more.

RE: Questions about my 1000RR
these are the suggested setting from sportrider for an 06 1000RR.. I set my 05 up to thier suggestions and was fairly happy with it. I had adjust a few things, but I am heavier than those guys too. these are the settings they use, but it was a good starting point for me with thier suggestions.
front preload frontrebounddampening front comp dampening
7 turns out 1.5 turns out from 2 turns out from
from full stifffull stifffull stiff
rear preload rear rebound dampening rear comp. dampening
position 5 from 3.5 turns out from 20 clicks out from
full softfull stiff full stiff
You can also go to sportrider.com and get thier ideas on setting the suspension up. It will be different for everyone. Different weight, body position, style, speed. all these play factors in how each person rides and how each bike is set up differently. such as you seam to like thebikes stiffer, to me,stiffer bikesfeel less stable. I get a lot more feel from the bike when the suspension compresses.. I can feel the tires better. When a bike is set too stiff, it tends to abruptly kick out vs a controlable slide.. may be just me though... But I like my bike a little on the soft side to let the suspension do its work. but again, goes back to personal preference.
