Default 2004-2005 1000rr questions...

Hey guys!

I am looking to get a 1000rr in year range of 2004 2005! What I have not been able to figured out is if they come with a slipper clutch! Not that its a big deal to me just would like to know for 411 purposes!

Oh yeah and what do you know about heat rapping headers and exhaust as a performance mod? Myth? I was told that by forcing the heat to stay within the exhaust manifold gas is burned more effeicently some how making more horsepower?

Thanks Guys

No slipper clutch, but you could always put in an aftermarket for a hefty sum of $

I wouldn't use heat wrap on the headers. I would get the headers ceramic coated (Only cost around $100 or a little more) this will help with keeping it cooler down by your legs. This will speed up the exhaust out of thepipes and give it a couple of ponies but don't look for big gains. Heat wrap can trap moisture on the pipes for faster rusting and you are looking at what $50+ for the heat wrap tape.

I have an 04 I just picked up new last year. The biggest mods I would look at are a new exhaust, PC3 and dyno tuned, 520 conversion with -1 and maybe plus 2 in rear (Probably just front though as I ride highway too much), maybe a 190/55 rear tire, if its too hot in summer than I would possibly do the ceramic coating for the headers next winter while it is up for the season. I think that most of these will keep me excited to ride my CBR for years to come. Not that I am complaining now. I do think 1st and second gear are really tall though as top speed in first is like 85 mph and second is 95 mphor so. So mind numbingtorque is not really there in 1st or 2nd gear. I haven't had the guts to try anything faster, because I want to keep my license.

My 95 Yamaha FZR1000f was a torque monster with the bike wanting to squirt out from under me when I got on the gas and the top speed in 1st was only 75 so I figure that had a sprocket change at one point before I bought it.

bwf4i:

Check out this page: http://www.rogueracing.org/satoexhaust.htmconcerning heat wrapping the headers.

Personally, I think the 04-05 models look the best in terms of body design. However, the 08's have made a lot of improvements internally as well as externally. For one thing, the 08 has the slipper clutch. i also like the mirror mounted turn signals (it's about time Honda!).
